The camber, on the other hand, which is the curvature of the deck from beam to beam is what allows the water to flow off the deck.
Now the chine is the part of the boat that handles its speed and it can be seen be seen under the waterline and the transom. Soft chines are chines that are rounded while the ones that are squared off are called hard chines. You may notice that even if the waves are high, the boats do not easily capsize and this is because of the flat sterns which possess a broader surface and this shape makes it harder for the waves to topple.
Now, the parts of the boat steers and give it direction are the rudder and the propeller. The rudder steers the boat and the boat is driven by one or more screw propellers. If you are not familiar with these boating terms, it would seem that you are speaking with foreigners because they talk using a totally different set of terms. And if you intend to buy a boat and eventually source boat parts online, you also have to be very familiar with these terms and their uses.
